Britain and tribalism.

“I don’t think Britain should give a lump of money to a country that’s ruled by tribal life, they can’t even govern themselves”
"The difference between a high profile mob boss and a common run of the mill drug dealer? Perception."

I was listening to James Whale’s show on ‘London’s Biggest Conversation’ when South Sudan became a topic, the show’s host piped in that he didn't think that it was wise to pump Sudan up with money while it's being "ruled by tribal life" which I thought was an interesting point. What is implied is that Britain and the western civilisation it represents is above tribal warfare and that involving itself in the troubles in Africa would further delay Britain’s progress as a nation essentially emerging from bankruptcy; the suggestion isn't a racist one, it's merely a near sighted one.

The idea of Britain being above tribal altercations is ludicrous as tribalism has marred the nation for long time, the turf wars over post codes have resulted in much violence and the casualties are often dismissed as 'another stab victim'; society always splits itself into groups and there is always hostility between them. British society has become so accustomed to 'gang' culture overshadowing its youth that it has accepted the words the media uses to describe it and allowed itself to become ignorant to what it really is and its similarity to the troubles experienced across the globe. Cartels in Sierra Leone kill for the diamonds the land is so rich in while the British tribes kill for the drugs society is so rich in, it's a matter of geographical situation and there is no doubt that in a universe in which the white cliffs of dover are diamond encrusted it may be the union jack in aid adverts.
